Septic System Replacement & Leach Field Installation in Meadow Vista, CA

When a Meadow Vista homeowner started experiencing slow drains and recurring septic odors, they needed a long-term fix—not a temporary patch. Davidson Excavation replaced the failing system and installed a new drain field designed for the property’s layout and foothill conditions.

Project Snapshot

Location

Meadow Vista, CA (Placer County)

Service performed

Septic System Replacement + Leach Field Installation

Property type

Single-family home on a sloped foothill lot

Timeline

~[X] weeks total (including coordination), ~[X] working days on-site

Key constraints

Tight access, limited usable yard space, drainage control on slope

Outcome

Reliable wastewater system + clean finish + protected drain field area

The Challenge

The homeowner had an older system that was no longer performing consistently. They were dealing with:

Slow drains during peak household water use

Odors in the yard after heavy rain

A drain field area that stayed wetter than normal

They also wanted the replacement done in a way that:

Minimized impact to the usable yard

Protected nearby landscape features

Set the property up for worry-free use long term

The Plan

Our plan focused on three priorities: compliance, longevity, and clean site restoration.

We coordinated the project to ensure:

The installation followed the approved design and inspection steps

Excavation stayed controlled and safe around existing utilities

Surface water was managed so it wouldn’t overload the new system

Our Process

1) Site walk + utility safety coordination

Before excavation, we confirmed access, staging, and the safest dig approach. As a standard best practice, excavation projects should follow the “call before you dig” process and safe excavation requirements.

2) Controlled excavation + removal of failed components

We opened the work area carefully to limit disturbance and keep the site organized and safe.

3) Tank excavation, base prep, and set

We prepared a stable base, set the new tank, and aligned inlet/outlet connections for proper flow.
(Example placeholder: “1500-gallon concrete tank with risers for easier access.”)

4) New leach field installation

We installed the new dispersal field per plan, ensuring correct elevation, spacing, and material placement.
(Example placeholder: “chamber-style trenches to maximize performance in constrained space.”)

5) Inspection coordination + final tie-ins

We scheduled required checks at the right milestones so the project kept moving without rework.

6) Backfill, grading, and cleanup

We restored the surface, shaped drainage away from the system area, and left the property clean and usable.

Results

By the end of the project, the client had:

A new, reliable septic system built for the site conditions

A clean final grade and stabilized work area

Clear guidance on protecting the drain field moving forward (traffic, irrigation, and drainage)

Homeowner takeaway: “We wanted it done once and done right—and that’s exactly what happened.” (Replace with real testimonial later.)

What Permitting Looks Like in Placer County

Septic projects often involve documentation, reviews, and inspections. Placer County publishes septic installation documents and notes that incomplete permit applications can’t be processed.

Placer County has also updated its septic rules under the Local Agency Management Program (LAMP) to lower costs and expand options (announcement published Oct. 15, 2025).

How Davidson helps: We coordinate the field work to align with the design and inspection timeline, so homeowners aren’t left guessing what happens next.
